Reading and Writing
Reading and Writing have been combined this week as all language work this week is dedicated to working towards completion of the Paper Bag Project.
This week the focus is on completing the Paper Bag Project. You should be finished or finishing your novel this week. Below (under Monday) is a checklist of activities to complete for the Paper Bag Project. The checklist has a suggested sequence for completing the activities to be included as part of this project. Do you have to follow the outline for what you should be working on each day? The answer is NO. The checklist is just a suggestion. However, it may be wise to follow the plan laid out in the checklist as closely as you can. I would suggest that you have the paper bag, the writing and all the artifacts completed this week. I would suggest that next week (week #6) would be for tidying up the parts to make everything the best it can be, and of course working on the video presentation. Remember the video of the project is due on Friday, May 15. This video will need to be emailed to your teacher.
Some students have indicated that they do not have a paper bag. You can use any container that is appropriate for the project. If you do not have a paper bag use any appropriate container. Ideas may include: a gift bag, a cardboard box, a tissue box, a Tupperware container, a plastic bag. Your container needs to be able to hold and display all the parts of the project and should look professional.
IXL Language: This week I would like you to concentrate on Section J. You can also continue to work on Section F of IXL Language if you have not completed this section yet.

Numeracy
There are three tasks to complete this week. Complete day 1 of the Shopping Spree activity on Monday. Complete day 2 of the Shopping Spree activity on Tuesday. Day 2 will not be uploaded until Tuesday morning to keep it a surprise. On Wednesday you will be working on an estimation activity involving a very large box of Crispy Creme donuts. You get a choice of Would You Rather (WYR) Activities to complete on Thursday. You only need to complete one of the two activities on Thursday, not both. On Friday ensure that all your math work is Submitted and use any extra time to work on IXL Math.
With any extra time, or if you just want to do some extra practice, work on IXL Math. This week I would like you to concentrate your efforts on Section O. You could also go back and work on any parts of sections B, C & F that you have not completed.
