Reading
This week the focus is on completing the Paper Bag Project. Your novel should be completed. Your items for the bag should be finished or just require some minor finishing touches. This week you should be scripting your video presentation, practicing the presentation, revising your presentation, filming your presentation, revising again, filming again and finally editing it to a final product. Do not get in front of the camera and try and wing it in one take.
Remember the video presentation is due this Friday, but if you are done early you can submit it early. When submitting your video there are a couple of different ways you can do it. You can send the video file to me. You can also post your video to your personal YouTube or Vimeo account and then share the link with me. Just remember that I need to be able to access the video so you will have to set the permissions accordingly.
Some students have indicated that they do not have a paper bag. You can use any container that is appropriate for the project. If you do not have a paper bag use any appropriate container. Ideas may include: a gift bag, a cardboard box, a tissue box, a Tupperware container, a plastic bag. Your container needs to be able to hold and display all the parts of the project and should look professional.
There is a new Reading Log this week. It is a new simplified version so ensure that you have download a copy of it and fill it out daily. You should be reading daily for 20 - 30 minutes.
IXL Language: This week I would like you to concentrate on Section J. You can also continue to work on Section F of IXL Language if you have not completed this section yet.

Numeracy
Work in Math this week will focus on Graphing. This week you will be presented with various sets of data that you will be required to graph. If you do not have graph paper you can download it below and print it out. Each day you will completing a hand-drawn graph. Samples of each of the graph types have been provided for your reference. They are not the same graphs but they do provide you with some insight into how the different graph types could be completed. Remember to use a ruler and use appropriate colours. If you happen to have a fine-liner pen to go over your work it does help to make your graph look professional. On Friday, ensure that all your math work is submitted and use any extra time to work on IXL Math. Ensure that you keep a copy of all your graphing work from this week as you will most likely have to work with this data and your graphs again next week (week #7) — do not just throw them out!
There is also a collection of videos created by Ms. Bartlett to assist you in constructing and interpreting graphs. There is also a collection of videos compiled by Ms. Lewis the can help you to construct your graphs. You can watch them if you wish.
With any extra time, or if you just want to do some extra practice, work on IXL Math. This week I would like you to concentrate on finishing up any sections that you have not completed in previous weeks — sections A, B, C, F, and O.
